Elif;
All the ideas written to you are good/great. I would also like to add how important relationships are, especially the more involved/complicated/pricey a job goes.
History shows that the great designers were also people who were great "relater…

Hey Rick. Yes, it has been a long time; 18-20 years maybe?? I do remember you well and discussions about design with boulders. Maybe it was at Joel Lerners'
"Leaving No Stone Unturned" conferences or the start up meetings for APLD. Speaking of a long time, Dell finally sent a new computer after replacing just about every part in the old one to no avail. Problem was going on since Dec 17th - that is why the late reply. At this moment I am planning on going to Portland. See you there?
Hi Rick, I would love to make it to Portland, but money will be tight this year.
Yes most of my work is East Coast when it comes to construction, but there are no boundaries when it comes to where I will undertake design work.
Sorry don't know any Pat McAfee, have you been to Ireland?
Hi Rick,
You seem to be busy making friendsand I am glad to join the group.I have been an Associate member of APLD since 2004 and always looking to make friends in the US, and who knows maybe even break into the US market. I attended the APLD Conference in 2004 when it was held in London, England , and I even got to host one of the days. I too am an old guy and I still sketch with a pencil, but now adays I rely heavily on my computer. Check out my website on www.hughryan.ie
Hi Rick,
Thanks for the friend request. I recognized you from GTX a week or so ago and I was going to say hello. But, you probably know the drill, I've been trying to complete a couple of jobs and I've been distracted away. Bla, bla, bla.
It's true though. Thankfully.
I'm a newb with APLD but I did get to meet some of the AZ chapter today at a cert. workshop. It's great to meet and talk with other designers. I feel like a mushroom sometimes.
Hands of Stone,
any internet savy I'm showing I owe to Susan Cohan of NJ - very knowledged in design and a cool head - she says she knows you thru the internet and thru your legendary design/booze sessions - she taking over membership for apld - dude, I'm an older guy tryin to do a fraction of what you do - but on computer
Rick, I'm sure you don't remember me. We met at the APLD Toronto conference back in summer of 2000. I was one of the 14 or so of us dining (and drinking a bit) in the revolving restaurant atop the CN Tower. Trust me, my memory isn't that good, I had to go into my files to bring back that date and place. Anyway, I've been attending most of the APLD conferences ever since and haven't run into you. Where have you been, those conferences are great!
